Fluoride plays an important role in protecting children’s teeth and is safe when used according to dental recommendations. By strengthening enamel, fluoride helps defend against cavities and supports healthy tooth development. Pediatric dentists commonly recommend fluoride through toothpaste and in-office treatments tailored to each child’s age and cavity risk.

Young children should use only a small amount of toothpaste, a rice-sized smear for toddlers and a pea-sized amount for older kids—to avoid swallowing too much. Supervised brushing can help children develop healthy habits while using fluoride safely. When used properly, fluoride is a reliable and effective way to promote strong, healthy smiles throughout childhood.

Our team had so much fun at the AAPD conference in Las Vegas last week! We attended so many good sessions, learned a ton, and for some of us it was our first time flying on a plane and visiting Las Vegas!

We are so thankful to our amazing docs who gave us the opportunity to expand our knowledge in the world of Pediatric Dentistry, so that we can serve our patients even more! Thanks Dr. John and Dr. Olson!

The team was very excited to run into Dr. Banning who will be joining Carson City Pediatric Dentistry in August!

He is about to graduate from Dental School at UNLV and we are so thrilled he chose us!
