Dr. Robert Hyten started his dental practice, in Carlyle, in 1989 after graduating from Southern Illinois School of Dental Medicine. Born and raised in Edwardsville, Illinois, Dr. Hyten had an interest in dentistry from an early age. His uncle was a dentist, and Dr. Hyten and his siblings always enjoyed visits to his office. At the age of 16, Dr. Hyten was trained in his uncle's office to be a den
tal assistant and spent the next 4 summers working with patients. After graduating high school, Dr. Hyten attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky on a track and cross country scholarship. He pursued studies in chemistry and biology with an eye for getting into dental school. After dental school, Dr. Hyten spent many months looking for the right opportunity to practice dentistry. Carlyle was his community of choice because of it's potential for professional success and the benefits of small town living, particularly building relationships with patients and neighbors. Dr. Hyten is a member of The American Dental Association, The Illinois State Dental Society, Lions International, Kaskaskia College Advisory Board, and Friends of the Library. He has been coaching soccer since 1998 and currently coaches a select soccer team in the Illinois Youth Soccer Association Affiliated Leagues and Tournaments.
