Asked & Answered: Can my kid still play sports and music with braces?
Short answer: yes to both.
For sports, grab a mouth guard. We recommend the pre-formed, ready-to-wear kind (the ones you pull out of the package and go). Skip the boil-and-bite or custom-fitted versions. They sound like a good idea but they don't play well with braces.
For wind and brass players, expect a short adjustment period. A week or two of practice and most kids are back to sounding like themselves.
You can find the pre-formed guards at Dick's, Target, or on Amazon. Easy.
