SIU Dental Hygiene Clinic The SIU Dental Hygiene Clinic offers a variety of oral hygiene services to the southern Illinois Community.

Located inside the College of Applied Science & Arts building, we are an excellent resource for affordable, preventive, dental care- not just for students, but all members of the community! We provide exams, cleanings (prophylaxis), fluoride treatments, and x-rays (the small fee even includes a copy for you to take)! Trained students work directly under the supervision of registered dental hygienists and dentists. Call us today for an appointment or visit our site for prices and details!

What is a Dental Hygienist?

Definitions vary and can be simple or complex. One thing we know for sure, is that we are proud of each and every student this semester!

Whether they cross that stage tomorrow and switch that tassel from right to left while awaiting those all important board scores to post.

Whether they felt like they learned an entire new language, understanding the difference between mesial and distal and all those other surfaces 😜and realizing just how important it is to know how to count from 1-32.

Or whether they flew thru each semester, completing patient after patient, craming and studying and pushing themselves to the max to get that grade they hoped for.

Dental Hygiene school is no easy feat! Seeing our students succeed and thrive is what strive to do! Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We can't wait to see what your future holds! And to those returning students and incoming freshman and sophomores, we hope you have the best summer break and we can't wait to see you in the Fall! 🦷✌️🎓

On April 17, 2026, junior Dental Hygiene students had an incredible opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics Special Smiles program at this year‘s Region K Spring Games.

Alongside professors Stacey McKinney and Jennifer McKinnies, the students spent the day providing oral health screenings, oral hygiene education, and words of encouragement to the amazing athletes of Region K.
