To all of the families and dental offices,

We have implemented a voicemail telephone system. Due to the large volume of incoming calls that we receive every day. This new system helps us track and return all incoming calls and messages. All messages left will receive a call back within 24 business hours. Please leave only one message in the appropriate voicemail box which are listed below:

Press option 1 if you are an existing patient calling about billing, routine cleaning, or filling appointments,
option 2 if your child is in pain, was referred, or a doctor's office,
option 3 if you are calling to cancel an appointment, or
option 4 if your child is scheduled for dental surgery.

We appreciate you choosing our offices as your children's dental home and we hope you work with us during this change.

We are so happy to be open despite all of the changes and limitations placed upon us during this national crisis. There have been so many changes in the world. One thing that has not changed is we are here to improve children’s lives through dentistry. Our mission is still to help as many children as we can, for as long as we can, and as best as we can. To achieve this mission, we have had to make some adjustments in the office to respond to this national crisis.

We are following all of the CDC, ADA, ODA and our governor’s recommendations. Per these agencies, it is recommended to decrease the number of patients per dentist. These are the most frequently asked questions:

1. How has scheduling changed?
• We are scheduling for the current and next month. Cleaning appointments will be made closer to your children’s actual due date.

2. What are the current age ranges and guidelines for patients?

Referred Patients
• We are accepting referrals from the child’s parent/guardian, medical, and dental providers for children from birth through 11 years of age.
• If you have a regular dentist and your child was well behaved, you may return to that dental practice after treatment is completed. The exception is when the child is not able to cooperate for a cleaning with a general dentist.

New Patients
• We are accepting new patients from birth through 8 years old without a referral.
• We are accepting new patients from 9-11 years old with a referral from a parent/guardian, medical or dental provider (i.e. the child has a cavity or cavities). Why does the office only accepts new patients 11 and under? Most children 12-year-old or older have all of their adult teeth and require dentistry that is not in the scope of our practice.

Existing Patients
Birth through 8 years old
• If your child is 8 years old and under, please call and schedule an appointment if needed

Children 9-13 years old
• If your child is in this age group and well behaved without cavities, we are asking you to take your child to a general dentist for cleanings.
• We are honoring all existing cleaning appointments through the end of the year.
• If you or the general dentist wants a tooth or teeth treated by us and it’s in the scope of the practice, then the child may return for treatment.
• If we diagnosed or told you your child had cavities, please call and make an appointment for an evaluation and treatment.
• If your child has a toothache or pain, call and make an appointment for an evaluation
• We will continue to treat your child’s dental needs if it is in the scope of our practice.
• We are hoping things change and we resume providing cleaning to older children.

3. Where can I take my older child?
We recommend you take your child to your dentist for routine care or call your insurance company’s website to find a general dentist in your area.

4. When I call the office what should I expect?
• Due to our large call volume, we are not able to answer all of the calls. Therefore, we have introduced a new telephone system.
• Most calls will be answered by our voicemail system, and please allow us up to 72 hours for a return call.
• Some calls may be returned on Saturday by 6:00pm. The office is not open for services on Saturdays, although calls are being returned.
• When calling the office, please listen to the entire greeting and leave only one message in the proper que. Leaving multiple messages and placing the message in the wrong que will delay a return call.

Dear Parents:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Currently, we are open for emergencies and sedations in both our Canton and Wooster offices. Please call the office if your child has a toothache, a dental emergency or if you think your child has cavitites. While we are not able to provide routine care a this time, we are able to treat emergencies and sedate patients for extensive dental decay. Hopefully soon, we will be able to provide all routine treatment.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,

Doctors and Staff
