The Iowa Mission Of Mercy (IMOM 2025) just wrapped up its annual event held this year in Coralville. This two day event brings in hundreds of dentists, hygienists, assistants and support staff to provide a free dental clinic for those in need. People come from hours away and across the state to receive care, at zero cost to the patient. This year’s event treated approximately 1100 patients providing over 1 million dollars in donated dental services! Providing this level of care in an improvised setting is truly remarkable. My participation focused on providing oral surgery services over the two days. It was as rewarding as it was humbling. The days started early and ran long, and fortunately I had the pleasure of working with some of our team at Randolph Dental. Looking forward to next year! 🦷

Back where it all started! 🦷  As a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, this past January I accepted a part-time position as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry. This role allows me to continue expanding my clinical knowledge and stay at the forefront of advancements in dental care, while also sharing my clinical experience and expertise—gained from over 30 years of serving patients—with third-year dental students.

I am passionate about giving back to the next generation of dental professionals. By stepping into this academic role, I hope to support and mentor students in the same way my own instructors once guided and inspired me. So far, it has been incredibly rewarding!

Importantly, this teaching role has been carefully structured so that it does not take any time away from my practice. I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back to a profession that has given so much to me.
