How Diabetes Affects Your Gums
Diabetes can affect your gums by increasing the risk of gum disease. High blood sugar weakens the body's ability to fight infections, making gums more prone to inflammation, infection, and bleeding. People with diabetes are also more likely to experience dry mouth, which can lead to plaque buildup and further gum problems. Proper blood sugar control and good oral hygiene are essential to protect your gums if you have diabetes.
