🔧 A significant part of prosthodontics is solving complex problems and managing complications when treatment does not go as planned.
This patient was referred to our office after experiencing repeated fractures of her upper implant-supported provisional (“AOX”) prosthesis. Understandably frustrated, she wanted to know if the prosthesis could simply be repaired. However, after a comprehensive evaluation, we determined that due to limitations in the original treatment planning, a straightforward repair would not provide a predictable long-term solution.
Through careful diagnosis and treatment planning, Dr. Yoon was able to restore both function and esthetics with upper and lower implant-retained overdentures (“snap-on” dentures). This approach allowed the patient to avoid extensive corrective surgery while providing a prosthesis that is durable, comfortable, and easy to maintain.
Every case is unique, and sometimes the best solution is not simply fixing what is broken—it is creating a treatment plan that sets the patient up for long-term success. ✨
Big thanks to Dr. Patrick Walker for the surgical support
