Sports-related dental injuries can cause chipped teeth, jaw trauma and soft tissue damage. A professionally made mouthguard is designed to fit comfortably while helping absorb impacts. Unlike over-the-counter options, custom mouthguards provide a more secure fit, making them easier to wear. Protecting your smile now can help prevent unexpected pain, costly treatment, and time away from the activities you love. For more information, call us at +1 678-318-3191 today!

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, usually TMD for short, is any condition of pain or dysfunction in this joint. TMD affects millions of Americans.

Symptoms can include:

-Pain in the jaw joint, face or neck
-Pain when chewing or stiffness and difficulty speaking or chewing
-Limited range of motion or locking of the jaw
-Popping, clicking, or grating noises when chewing, speaking, or opening and closing the mouth
-Changes in occlusion (the way the teeth fit together when closed)

-Aching and pain around the ears

If you're suffering from those sorts of symptoms, give us a call. We’d love to help you restore the comfort and function of your jaw joint and give you more occasion to smile!

The importance of brushing well cannot be emphasized enough, but no matter how well you brush, it cannot replace flossing. However, flossing improperly does not really improve your oral health! Use the “c-shape” technique -wrap the floss gently around the tooth so you are sort of hugging the tooth with the floss. Gently glide it all the way up and down a few times, and repeat for every inner tooth surface. Do not use a sawing motion or snap the floss

Do oral health problems affect kids the same as adults?

Not necessarily is the short answer.

There are ways that oral health problems affect children differently than adults.

For instance, your child’s dentist may make different recommendations based on age. Because children’s jaws are still developing, they may require temporary solutions to fill any important gaps in their mouth — to be replaced by a more permanent solution after they turn 18. An adult, of course, would receive a different treatment plan.

On the positive side, kids generally heal quicker than adults. Recovery from oral surgery, for instance, will generally be easier and faster for kids. Their bodies naturally work at a faster pace and are continuing to develop.

Another positive about being a kid is that (generally) oral health issues aren’t compounded by adult habits like to***co or alcohol use.

Routine dental cleanings do more than keep your smile looking fresh. They also remove plaque buildup that brushing and flossing can miss and allow your dental team to monitor any changes. Staying consistent with preventive care can help support long-term oral health. Call +1 678-318-3191 to schedule your next visit.

Christopher M. says:

"I was very pleased from the minute I walked into the office. Everyone was so nice there. My experience with Dr Vancil was Great. He took his time explaining to me what needed to be done to address the issue I had come in for. He also took time to mention other issues that we would need to address later down the road. I felt very at ease while I was there. They make you feel comfortable while your there. Great visit from Beginning to End."

Thank you, Christopher. And thanks to all our awesome patients

Occasional gum irritation can happen, but persistent bleeding while brushing or flossing may be an early sign of gum disease. Inflammation caused by plaque buildup can progress and may lead to more serious oral health concerns. Early intervention, professional cleanings, and improved home care habits can make a significant difference. If you’ve noticed bleeding gums regularly, scheduling an evaluation can help identify the cause and protect your smile. Call +1 678-318-3191 to schedule.

Prevent gum disease with planing and scaling. (Trust us, it's not as scary as it sounds.)

Contrary to popular belief, gum disease does not discriminate based on age. Both adults and children can find themselves battling bleeding gums and gum recession – both signs of gingivitis, and the more serious advancement of the disease, early onset periodontitis. To prevent this bacterial infec...
