February is National Children's Dental Health Month!
Dental visits can be intimidating for children, but one way to get rid of that fear before it can even form is exposure! Prioritizing healthy smiles in our young children will help them to feel comfortable with dental visits.
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. Cavities, also known as caries or tooth decay, are one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood, yet cavities are preventable. Untreated cavities can cause pain and infections that may lead to problems with eating, speaking, playing, and learning. Children who have poor oral health often miss more school and receive lower grades than children who don’t.
The theme of this year's NCDHM is "Healthy Habits for Healthy Smiles". Healthy habits include brushing 2x daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between teeth daily with floss, eating healthy foods while limiting sugary beverages and most importantly seeing your dentist 2x a year.
