Case review of the week was this composite bonding from a few days ago. Composite is an amazing tool and we are able to do some life-changing dentistry with it. Every treatment option is case dependent.

• Not as stain-resistant as porcelain — coffee, red wine, and smoking can darken it over time ☕🍷
• Slightly less durable than veneers or crowns — may chip with biting hard foods (ice, pens, nails)
• Typically needs touch-ups or polishing every few years to keep it looking fresh ✨

However, composite bonding is a conservative, same-day way to improve your smile (often without drilling). It’s cost-effective, reversible, and easily repairable, making it a great option for subtle cosmetic enhancements.

Beware of clubbing with composite bonding 😂 ⛔️

Once a year I’ll have a patient tell me they can see their bonding when they’re out partying. It happens and it may also happen with other porcelain restorations.

This blue light is not to be confused with a dental curing light. We’ll use this occasionally to help remove composite bonding when it’s left on the tooth and we can’t quite see it. Essential in not removing excess tooth structure ✅

This patient presented with 4 failing front root canal treated teeth. Implants were placed by OMFS (shoutout ), and we restored them with a 4-unit implant-supported bridge. The first step was creating a temporary bridge to evaluate esthetics and function before proceeding to a final porcelain restoration.

Adding pink porcelain is always a tough match but we felt this case needed it to give better tooth proportions and not create the illusion that the teeth were too bulky. It’s a decision we came together on with the patient after visualizing it in the temporaries.
