Dental sealants are simply a thin plastic coating that is applied directly to the chewing area of the teeth. Sealant is painted to the tooth enamel and it hardens with UV lighting. The sealant will remain in tact for several years, preventing the tooth from decay. Normally dental sealants will hold up for years under regular eating and your oral health routines. We will examine the sealants with each cleaning to check the sealants and ensure they are working properly. If the dental sealants are wearing down, we will need to reapply the dental sealants.
