Nora came to our office at 9 years old to address growth and develop issues during Phase 1 orthodontic treatment. We continued to monitor her growth over the next several years until she was ready for Phase 2 orthodontic treatment.

Job Description:

Nathan Thomas Orthodontics is looking to add to our Front Office team! We are currently accepting resumes for a full-time Treatment Coordinator.
While familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems or dental/orthodontic operations are a plus, they are not necessarily requirements as training by our staff is provided. What will be REQUIRED is an outgoing personality, positive attitude, a put others first mentality, and solid detailed work ethic!

Responsibilities Include:
- New patient consultations, including treatment presentation, oral photography and radiography, completion of patient history forms, and patient charting.
- Records (photos, x-rays, intraoral scan for digital models).
- Propose financial arrangements.
- Support in filing initial insurance information.
- Tracking and completion of statistical reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Patient and dental correspondence by mail, email, phone, and text message.
- Management of the practice observation recall system.
- Second in line to answer the telephone.
- External Marketing - social media, building relationships with other dental offices, etc.
- Internal Marketing
- Ability to multitask and type while receiving instructions.

What is Phase 1 orthodontic treatment?🤔🤷🏻‍♂️❓

As a profession, orthodontists have done a poor job educating the public and fellow dental professionals about what we do and its importance. In this post, we want to demonstrate the importance of Phase 1 orthodontic treatment and inform everyone of the IMPORTANCE OF SEEING THE ORTHODONTIST FOR THE FIRST VISIT AT AGE 7.

Nora saw us for her first visit at 9 yrs old back in 2018. If you look below at her "Phase I Start" photos, you will see that the space on her upper left has been lost due to early baby tooth loss. The space that existed at that time is marked by the green lines and the space needed for the future adult teeth is marked by red outlines roughly occupying the space that they require. On the front bite photo, you can also see that she has a crossbite on her right side back teeth. Left untreated, this could result in future adult tooth extraction and possible jaw surgery.

Looking at her "Phase I Final" photos, you will see the crowding and crossbite was corrected and her Phase 1 treatment was a success after 17 months. Now, we monitor Nora's growth and eruption annually until all of her permanent teeth have erupted. Then we assess the need for Phase 2 treatment and what that will entail.

Phase 2 treatment is designed to "final set" the permanent teeth and adjust the bite in order to be preserved for the rest of the patient's life with retainers. If you look at the her 2 remaining photos, you will see her "Phase II Start" that began in 2023 at 14 years old and her "Phase II Final" photos that mark the conclusion of her orthodontic treatment after 19 months. As you can see, proper orthodontic supervision and treatment can dramatically affect the outcome!💯👍
