What is Periodontal Disease? >>

Infections that affect the tissues and bone that support teeth.

*As tissues are damaged, the space where the gum line meets the teeth to form a "v" shape (called the suculus) develops into an enlarged pocket that holds bacteria. Left untreated, periodontal disease may lead to tooth loss.

*Here's what to look for:
- Gums that bleed easily
- Red, swollen, or tender gums
- Gums that have pulled away from your teeth
- Persistent bad breath
- Pus between the teeth and gums
- Loose or separating teeth
- A change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite
- A change in the fit of partial dentures

🎉 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Justin Chang to the Water Oak Dental family! 🦷💙

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Justin Chang, DDS, to our practice! Dr. Chang is a North Carolina native who grew up in Charlotte and is thrilled to return to his home state to begin his dental career in the beautiful western North Carolina mountains.

Dr. Chang earned his dental degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2026, after earning degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State. He is passionate about getting to know his patients, listening to their concerns, and making sure they feel comfortable and confident in their care. He especially enjoys helping patients who may feel anxious about visiting the dentist. ❤️

We are incredibly excited to have Dr. Chang join our team and look forward to watching him build lasting relationships with our patients!
