🏆 Brenham ISD Child Nutrition Director Named National Hunger Hero!

Brenham ISD proudly celebrated Child Nutrition Director Kasandra Davis during a Hunger Hero Award Ceremony, recognizing her as a 2026 No Kid Hungry Hunger Hero for her leadership and commitment to ensuring children have access to nutritious meals year-round.

This summer, Kasandra and the Brenham ISD Child Nutrition team launched the district’s first-ever 10-day Summer Meals To-Go bundles, making it easier for families to receive multiple days of nutritious breakfasts and lunches in one visit.

The results were incredible:

🍎 98,792 meals served during June and July
🍎 More than eight times the meals served in Summer 2025
🍎 Five times the number of children originally projected
🍎 $343,143.90 in additional federal reimbursement generated to support the Child Nutrition program

During the ceremony, Kasandra received a resolution from State Representative Trey Wharton and a congratulatory letter from State Senator Lois Kolkhorst honoring her national recognition and dedication to serving children.

Although the award recognizes Kasandra’s leadership, she was quick to credit the entire Child Nutrition team, whose hard work included planning, coordinating volunteers, ordering food, packing thousands of meal bundles and serving families throughout the summer.

We are incredibly proud of Kasandra and the entire Brenham ISD Child Nutrition team for the difference they continue to make for students and families throughout our community! 💚

July is National Ice Cream Month and Brenham is celebrating big in the Ice Cream Capital of Texas!

🍨 Besides the normal places to get a scoop of ice cream, we’ll be serving FREE Blue Bell during Summer Showcase in Alamo Alley from 5:00-6:30 on Saturday (before Hot Nights, Cool Tunes).

🍨 Blue Bell Ice Cream will be serving FREE scoops during Hot Nights, Cool Tunes Downtown Brenham on Saturday evening in honor of National Ice Cream Day.

🍨 Blue Bell’s Ice Cream Parlor will be open on Sunday, July 19 for National Ice Cream Day, 12-3pm.
