Howard was one of approximately twenty students accepted out of hundreds of candidates from across the country to participate in an accelerated program right after high school. This dual-degree fast track combined undergraduate and dental school in six years, saving two years in the process. Having gone to school in the Midwest, he learned a lot about Midwestern values, and he feels that had an im
pact on how he practices dentistry. Along with learning about Midwestern values, he also developed a love for Kansas City barbecue. The debate is still up in the air as to whether dentistry or barbecue has had a greater impact in his life. After graduating from dental school, he completed a general dentistry residency program in a Level I trauma center in The Bronx. Despite working in that type of setting, he was still able to provide quality care, and he also received the compassionate doctor award. That is one of his proudest accomplishments to date.
