Here's another nice comprehensive case. Patient is 80 years old and decided now is the time to have the smile he wants. He enjoys performing as a jazz guitarist in front of an audience. He had a few missing teeth. He also didn't like the color and arrangement of his teeth. He's so happy now. "I have a better smile now than when I was in my 20s!"

We restored his entire mouth (upper and lower arches).

This type of case requires serious experience and knowledge. Attention to detail and working closely with the patient's expectations create a life-changing result. Whether you're 30 or 80 years old, it's never too late.

Here's a neat case! A sixteen year old patient whose 12-year-old cousin tossed a snorkeling mask at her and accidentally hit her in the mouth... on a Saturday... in the Keys. Her very worried mom called me and we met them at the office (they drove 3 hours!). Instead of reducing the tooth even more to accommodate a crown, we did a very conservative bonded filling. No additional tooth reduction! For a young patient like this, a conservative approach is really important.

Of particular artistic note: It's not just about matching the colors. Look at how the surface anatomy and reflections match the other teeth. Also look at the shape of the tooth, particularly the edge and how that matches the other teeth. If you look closely, you can also see custom surface staining ("white clouds") to match the other teeth. It's all the little things that add up to a big result.

She was able to go to school on Monday with nobody the wiser! And three years later, it's still there and looking great!

The third most common cause of tooth loss... cracked or split teeth. Large existing fillings can weaken teeth, leaving them more prone to cracking, breaking, or splitting. Cracked teeth can be quite painful. If it hurts when you bite down on something, you may have a cracked tooth. Come see us!

When I reopened my dental practice in early June, the tooth fractures started coming in: at least one a day, every single day that I’ve been in the office.
