One of my absolute favorite cases on one of my absolute favorite patients 😍

This case was so incredibly fun! Multidisciplinary dentistry at its finest 🤌🏼

This patient had a few things going on: she was originally interested in veneers, had a baby canine tooth that reached the end of her days and needed to be taken out, and her adult canines were impacted. Patient was not interested in surgically exposing the canines to orthodontically pull them into place and the impacted canines eliminated implants as an option to replace them. We agreed on a treatment plan that involved Invisalign to properly align her teeth and to create equal & ideal spacing for canine pontics to be cantilevered off dual abutment premolar crowns. By the end of her Invisalign treatment we were so happy with the results she decided she loved her teeth as they were and opted not to do the veneers - this made my heart so happy because her teeth are way too pretty for me to cover them up! As you can tell in the last photo here, cementation day for her cantilever bridge was a glorious day and it’s clear we were ecstatic with her end result ❤️

Maybe she was born with it - Maybe it’s great planning & communication with an amazing dental lab 💁🏻‍♀️

One of my FAVORITE cases!! This patient became family to me throughout the journey of restoring her front two teeth. This patient was very unhappy with the appearance of her overlapped and enamel cracked central incisors. Patient was not interested in orthodontics to properly align her teeth and decided she wanted to restore with veneers to artificially align and correct her teeth. This case required extensive communication with the dental lab to reach our desired results: restorations that look like she was born with them - and I believe we achieved exactly that! The alignment, the line angles, the incisal translucency, the subtle craze lines, the elimination of black triangles at the gum line, the shade match **chef’s kiss** 🤌🏼

Had to roll my sleeves up on this one - but man, what an awesome result!!

I said it once I’ll say it again: it is extremely challenging to restore a single front tooth. When it come to our smile, the eye wants to see symmetry - the most minute difference can throw everything off.
This patient had direct resin bonding done to this front tooth years ago to hide a tooth darkened due to trauma. Patient was unhappy with the stained, bulbous, old composite and was ready to fix it with a more long term solution so we treatment planned a single veneer.
This patient’s teeth naturally have a high degree of translucency in the enamel - mimicking this in a veneer made this case extremely challenging. This patient’s darker tooth underneath the restoration also made it extremely challenging to block the dark color and shade match to its neighboring teeth. It took close and extensive communication with our amazing dental lab to replicate the color, optics, shape, and surface texture. The patient trusted the process and we were able to get this incredibly natural result!!

Dental lab:

** The after picture was immediately after cementing the veneer so the gums were a little irritated. After a day or two, the tissue completely heals and accepts the new restoration.

This is an old case but probably one of the most rewarding cases we’ve done!! What gets me so excited about dentistry is seeing someone’s perception of themself and their confidence change right in front of you. By the time we finished his treatment, it was a different man walking out of our doors compared to the one that came to us on that first day. This young patient came to me during the heat of COVID with a broken upper front tooth wanting a quick fix. I sat with the patient and we discussed that there was a lot of dental concerns that needed to be addressed in addition to his broken tooth. We developed a treatment plan that worked best for him - this patient invested in his smile and invested in himself. It was a long process to address all of his dental needs to reach a healthy, functional, and esthetic outcome. In addition to several fillings and posterior crowns, we had to extract two of his upper front teeth of which we replaced and restored with a single veneer and a four unit bridge. When we finished his treatment, he was so grateful and expressed that he felt like a new person, has so much confidence, and was so excited to better his life and apply for a new job 🤍

This lovely patient came into our office with a broken front tooth in need for us to mend the aftermath of an exciting birthday weekend 🎉

We restored this tooth to its former glory with direct resin composite bonding. When restoring this type of tooth fracture, our goal is to mimic the natural anatomy, optical elements , and color shade transition as closely as possible to get a seamless result as if nothing ever happened to the tooth.

We first found the composite shade that perfectly matched and blended with the color of the natural tooth . . . then began our sculpting 🤌🏼

We layer and sculpt our composites to reproduce the natural layers of the tooth. Naturally, beneath the white enamel we see on the outside of our teeth, we have a dentin layer that is more opaque and has mamelons that extend toward the incisal edge. Our enamel that covers the dentin is more translucent so when light hits our natural teeth we can visualize the internal dentin anatomy (to a certain degree).

When performing this layering technique, we use different composites that can mimic the opaque dentin and the translucent enamel to get a stunningly natural result 🤩
