GDC Welcomes Dr. Jesse Witkoff!

At Gunbarrel Dental Center, we appreciate the continued privilege to serve our patients and partner with them to achieve comprehensive, long term, sustainable dental and overall health. In keeping with our mission to provide state-of-the-art, proven oral health care solutions for our patients, Dr. Rachel Barone and Gunbarrel Dental Center are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jesse Witkoff to our team! Dr. Barone will continue to provide comprehensive restorative, TMJ, and airway services, and Dr. Jesse will begin providing tongue and lip tie releases on Fridays at our office starting August 23, 2024.

Dr. Jesse Witkoff, a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist, has been treating infants, children, and adults with Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs) and performing releases (frenectomies) for the last 12 years. He is a recognized lecturer both locally and nationally.
Throughout his many years as a pediatric dentist, Dr. Jesse has seen the positive impact that tongue and lip tie release treatments (frenectomies/frenuloplasties) can have on babies, youth, adolescents, adults and their families.

Frenectomies are particularly personal for Dr. Jesse because he suffered from numerous issues related to his own tongue tie that went undiagnosed well into adulthood. When he finally had a frenectomy in 2017, Dr. Jesse was amazed that much of his chronic neck and back pain was greatly relieved, and his breathing and airway issues (including obstructive sleep apnea) improved. After years of trying to chase down the cause of these issues to no avail, he was shocked to see that such a simple, minimally invasive procedure could solve so many problems – not just trouble with breastfeeding and bottle-feeding. That’s when Dr. Jesse knew that he wanted to provide education about tongue ties and airway issues and dedicate his whole practice to this life-changing treatment.

Dr. Jesse is looks forward to joining the team at Gunbarrel Dental Center and caring for patients of all ages with tethered oral tissues or lip and tongue ties. If you would like more information about Dr. Jesse and the services he provides or if you suspect you may have a tongue tie, please call him directly to schedule an appointment at 720-743-3340.

Another incredible week of dental education in the books! Both the American Equilibration Society and the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry offered exceptional, cutting edge programs, as well as a chance to connect with friends, colleagues, and mentors from around the country and the world. Dr. Barone is grateful to learn from these wonderful teachers, and have the opportunity to continue to refine and advance her clinical skills and knowledge. Until next year!

What an exceptional honor it was for Dr. Barone to attend and present for the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry this past weekend. She connected with friends old and new, and shared her presentation with the Academy on Sunday morning. Her dad even got to attend the meeting and hear her speak! Truly a highlight of her career, and she is so humbled and thankful for the opportunity. She could not have done it without her friends and mentors

Dr. Barone completed her work as the Program Committee Co-Chair this week for the American Equilibration Society. It was an honor and a privilege to create and execute the 2023 program and bring exciting and diverse speakers to the AES stage. Thank you to everyone involved for making our program a success, and special thanks to my co-chair . This absolutely would not have been as much fun or as wonderful without your tireless efforts! Cheers!

Our team had a wonderful time celebrating Jill’s retirement this week. Jill had been with Gunbarrel Dental Center most her adult life, and brought so much cheer, levity, care, and kindness to our practice. We have a deep appreciation for all she’s done for our patients and our team, and wish her the absolute best as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement.

Thank you to our patients who donated essential clothing, housewares, and gift cards for the Marshall Fire victims! Your donations are greatly appreciated, and helped amplify the good we were able to do for those in need. We are grateful for the generosity and kindness displayed by each of you, and feel thankful to be a part of such a beautiful, supportive community.

For those in our patient family and community who may not have otherwise heard:

We hope the new year is starting well for each of you, and that you and your families are safe and healthy. Like so many in our community, we are devastated by the fires that occurred last week and feel compelled to help. In an effort to do our part, we are collecting donations for victims of the fire. Based on the most recent information available from donation centers, the resources needed most are:
*Gift cards to Target, Wal-Mart, Costco, and local restaurants
*Sleeping bags in good condition
*Winter coats and boots
*Toiletries
*Clothing

We will have a collection point for donations at our office, and welcome any patients who feel so inclined to donate. Please drop items off by 4 pm on Thursday, January 13.

Additionally, if you were directly impacted by the fire please contact our office so we can be of assistance. For our patients and their extended families and friends who were affected by the fire, we will remain open from 4-5:30 on January 13th in an effort to make the donated items available to those in our patient family who may need them. Anything left over will be taken to a local donation center on Friday, January 14th.

The fires and their aftermath have affected so many in our community, and we hope by donating what we can and sharing our resources we can help ease some of the pain and loss those affected are feeling.

Thank you all.
