TMJ isn't just a joint. It's a system.

When doctors talk about a “TMJ problem," they're referring to how your jaw joint, muscles, ligaments, and surrounding structures work together.

That's why symptoms don't always feel like jaw pain. They can show up as tension, clicking, headaches, or discomfort you can't quite place.

Understanding the system is the first step to treating it properly.

If something feels off, don't guess.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another TMJ success story we are truly grateful for

A patient recently shared this beautiful review about her TMJ treatment experience with Dr. Anton Andrews at DENTOLOGY:

“I was incredibly pleased with the level of care I received here. I initially came seeking treatment for some severe TMJ or jaw pain that had been persistent and growing worse over the course of a year. The pain made it incredibly difficult to eat, talk, or just open/close my mouth normally. I was frequently hearing a lot clicking or crunching sounds whenever I moved my jaw where it almost felt like my upper and lower jaw were unnaturally rubbing against each other like sandpaper. But I'm happy to say that 7 months into my treatment journey so far, the vast majority of my initial pain and symptoms have already gone away completely. What is particularly noteworthy is that the treatment I received was relatively simple and non-invasive in nature. It involved mainly the application of some fillings in my back teeth, performing regular TENS therapy for 15 minutes each day, and then allowing time for my teeth to naturally shift on its own to better support my jaw position. The minimal, non-invasive nature of the treatment was definitely a great relief as fear of needing surgery or some more high-risk procedure was definitely a factor in why I put off seeking care for a long time. Despite the severity of my jaw damage, I was glad that the team here opted to try the non-invasive option first before rushing to perform more intensive procedures. I was also very pleased with how thorough and transparently my treatment was communicated to me throughout my care journey. During every check-up, Dr. Andrews would review my X-rays with me, give an update on how my jaw was doing, outline what next steps he wants to take, and explain the reasons why so that I was well-informed at each step. Overall, I'm truly happy and grateful for the care I've received here!”

At DENTOLOGY, Dr. Anton Andrews has more than 20 years of experience helping patients with TMJ/TMD symptoms, including jaw pain, clicking, headaches, facial tension, ear pressure, neck discomfort, and bite changes.

All-on-X dental implants are an advanced full-arch implant solution designed for patients with severely compromised teeth, failing dental work, uncomfortable dentures, or complete tooth loss. For individuals who feel they are ready to start over with a strong, stable, and natural-looking smile, All-on-X treatment can provide a life-changing alternative to removable dentures.

Using a carefully planned number of dental implants, typically four to six per arch, All-on-X treatment replaces missing, broken, or failing teeth with a fixed implant-supported prosthesis. Unlike traditional dentures, the restoration is secured to implants and designed to function more like natural teeth, helping patients speak, smile, and eat with greater confidence.

At Dentology, every All-on-X case is planned with a focus on precision, strength, facial harmony, and long-term function. Digital imaging, guided implant planning, and our in-house digital workflow allow us to design each case around the patient’s bone structure, bite, smile line, and aesthetic goals.

For the best long-term results, implant placement, bite design, and prosthetic material selection are all critical. A well-balanced bite helps protect the implants and restoration from excessive force, while high-strength zirconia ceramic provides durability, beauty, and resistance to fracture compared with many traditional materials.

Dr. Anton Andrews’ experience with implant dentistry and full-arch rehabilitation allows patients to receive a highly customized treatment plan designed to restore chewing ability, facial support, and a confident smile. The goal is not simply to replace teeth, but to rebuild a stable, functional, and natural-looking foundation for everyday life.

Jaw pain after Invisalign or clear aligners orthodontic treatment? Your bite may need a second look.
When the back teeth do not provide stable support, the jaw may feel different during chewing, clenching, or resting. Some patients notice jaw tension, TMJ clicking or popping, an uneven bite, morning jaw soreness, headaches, facial muscle tightness, or difficulty finding a comfortable bite.

Clear aligners can be excellent for straightening teeth, but some patients finish treatment feeling that their back teeth no longer touch evenly. Orthodontic literature discusses this as reduced posterior occlusal contacts, posterior open bite, or a “bite-block effect” from aligner wear.
Dr. Anton Andrews looks beyond how straight the teeth appear.
As a TMJ dentist with more than 20 years experience in the field, he evaluates bite support, jaw position, muscle tension, and TMJ function.

This detailed assessment helps identify why jaw pain, bite discomfort, or TMJ symptoms may have appeared after Invisalign or other clear aligner treatment.

At DENTOLOGY Boston, patients receive TMJ-focused dental care with careful attention to the bite, jaw joints, and muscles.
A changed bite does not automatically mean aligners caused TMD-TMJ problems, but if your jaw has felt different since treatment, it is worth having the occlusion and TMJ evaluated carefully.
