Give Kids A Smile at Tufts Dental What is Give Kids A Smile? A national initiative created in 2003 by the American Association to promote pediatric oral health in underserved communities.

Give Kids A Smile is a free event at Tufts Dental School which offers free dental exams, cleanings, fillings, oral health games, and prizes for disadvantaged children across the Boston/Greater Boston area. It is under this program, dental school's across the country organize a day, which aim to benefit hundreds of young children who lack proper dental care. Essentially, it's an access-to-care prog

ram. It's for the children that do not have a dentist, do not have health insurance, and do not have transportation. It's a program to break that barrier down, so that they can get free dental care. Services will include dental screenings, fluoride varnish applications, and sealant applications. Every child will receive free dental supplies including toothpaste and toothbrushes. Why Give Kids A Smile? Picture a day where pre-doctoral students, pediatric dental residents, and faculty can provide free dental services and valuable oral health education. A day, where at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, the halls will resonate with excited voices of hundreds of children participating in this program. A day, where all the emphasis is on making the kids more comfortable in a dental setting and encourage them to adopt good dental health habitat an early age, privet major problems later.
