More pressure doesn't mean a better clean, and it can actually work against you. It's actually a common cause of gum recession over time, since it wears away the gum tissue that protects your tooth roots.

The fix is simple: use a soft-bristled brush, and let the bristles do the work rather than pressing hard. Small, gentle circles clean just as effectively as a hard scrub, without the wear and tear.

That's also why frequency matters more than quantity. Grazing on sugary snacks all day gives bacteria constant fuel for acid production, while eating the same amount in one sitting gives your teeth more time to recover in between.
