We had a great time this past weekend at the March On For Brain Injury Long Island. It was amazing to see the community come together for such an important cause. It was also inspiring to see our friend Dr. Rai of The Rai Clinic honored. Thank you to The Brain Injury Association of New York State for having us.

Today we’re fabricating a socket for one of our canine patients. We make a mold of the hind leg so we can create a brace that is custom fitted. This brace helps keep the leg in place so that the dog can walk.

Today we want to introduce our patient, Mark. Mark is an above knee transfemoral amputee who has been working hard and practicing his form. There’s a technique to walking with an above knee prosthetic which is demonstrated in Mark’s stride. With the help of his C-Leg, Mark is able to walk smoothly and with return to every day tasks.

Meet Drako! He came in to the office for bilateral hind leg braces after tearing both ACL’s. Because of this injury he cannot walk. Tom and the team began the process by casting Drako to get an exact copy of his legs. Now we’re moving on to fabrication to create the braces and help Drako walk again.

Our patients and practitioners attended the 37th Annual Long Island Amputee Golf Classic. It was an exciting day on the green. As an amputee overcoming the odds and returning to activities you love, like golf, is the goal of what we do. It was so great seeing all the amputees attending, competing and having a great day. We are definitely looking forward to next year’s event.
