✨ Not every tooth that needs help has a cavity you can see.

Dental fillings can do more than treat decay. They can also restore strength, comfort, and function when teeth have been damaged over time.

🦷 Fillings may help with:

• Cavities caused by tooth decay
• Minor chips or cracks
• Teeth worn down from grinding or acid erosion

Treating small problems early can often help prevent bigger dental issues later.

If you’ve noticed sensitivity, discomfort, or changes in your teeth, it may be time for an evaluation.

our dental visit is about more than just your teeth—it’s an important part of your overall health.

At every hygiene appointment, we include an oral cancer screening as part of your care. It’s a simple, painless process that allows us to check for early signs before they become serious.

Many people are surprised to learn that oral cancer can affect anyone. While to***co and alcohol use are known risk factors, HPV (human papillomavirus) is now a major contributor—and most adults will be exposed to it at some point without even knowing.

That’s why consistent screenings matter.

During Oral Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a great time to prioritize preventive care and stay proactive about your health.

Call today to schedule your appointment with our hygienist.
Your visit will include a comprehensive oral cancer screening for your peace of mind.

What Your Hygienist Really Does (It’s More Than Cleaning Teeth)

During National Dental Hygienist Week, we’re celebrating the role your hygienist plays in protecting more than just your smile.

Every visit helps you:
• Lower your risk of gum disease, tooth loss, and costly dental treatment
• Reduce inflammation linked to heart disease, stroke, and diabetes
• Catch problems early—before they become painful or expensive
• Screen for serious conditions like oral cancer and signs of sleep apnea (OSA)
• Maintain fresher breath and a cleaner, healthier mouth
• Support better blood sugar control if you have diabetes

Your hygienist is your partner in prevention—helping you avoid bigger issues and even identify life-threatening conditions early.

These visits aren’t just about clean teeth—they’re about protecting your health, your comfort, and your future.

Call today to schedule your dental hygiene visit and experience the difference.

Oral cancer doesn’t always cause pain in the early stages—which is why it can go unnoticed.

As part of Oral Cancer Awareness Month, it’s important to know what to look for.

Signs and symptoms may include:
• Lumps or bumps in the mouth or on the lips
• Red or white patches
• Sores that don’t heal
• Changes in tissue texture
• Difficulty swallowing or speaking

These changes can appear anywhere in the mouth—including the lips—and should never be ignored.

Many cases today are linked to HPV (human papillomavirus), which affects a large percentage of the population without obvious symptoms.

The good news is that oral cancer screenings are quick, painless, and performed during your routine dental visits.

If you notice any of these signs, schedule an evaluation right away. Early detection saves lives.
For routine care, call today to schedule your appointment with our hygienist—we’ll include an oral cancer screening at your visit.

Have you ever known someone who struggled with uncontrolled diabetes… or suffered a heart attack or stroke?

What many people don’t realize is that gum disease may have been a contributing factor.

Your mouth is a gateway to your bloodstream. When gums are inflamed and bleed, bacteria can enter the bloodstream and trigger inflammation throughout the body.

That inflammation matters.

It can raise C-reactive protein (CRP)—linked to heart disease—and contribute to plaque buildup in arteries, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

In patients with diabetes, this inflammation can raise A1C levels, making blood sugar harder to control. When inflammation is reduced, blood sugar is often easier to manage.

Gum disease has also been linked to:
• Heart attacks and strokes
• Diabetes
• Certain cancers
• Respiratory infections
• Dementia
• Pregnancy complications

Gum disease is often painless—but there are warning signs:
• Bleeding or tender gums
• A pink toothbrush
• Bad breath
• Gum recession or swelling

These are not normal.

Routine hygiene visits reduce inflammation and support overall health.

Call today to schedule your dental hygiene visit—and take a step toward a healthier body, not just a healthier smile… with fresher breath as an added bonus.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month—a powerful reminder that early detection can save lives.

What many patients don’t realize is that an oral cancer screening is already part of your dental hygiene visit. It’s quick, easy, completely painless, and takes just a few minutes.

During your visit, we carefully check the lips, tongue, cheeks, and throat for any abnormal changes that may not be visible or noticeable to you.

Oral cancer can affect anyone—even those who do not smoke or drink alcohol.

In fact, HPV (human papillomavirus) is now one of the leading causes of oral cancer. It’s estimated that approximately 80% of adults will be exposed to HPV at some point in their lives, often without symptoms.

Because early-stage oral cancer is often painless, routine screenings are essential.

Call today to schedule your appointment with our hygienist.
We’ll perform an oral cancer screening as part of your dental hygiene visit.

🦷🪥✨ Dental Tip Tuesday

Replacing your toothbrush regularly is one of the simplest ways to protect your oral health. For most adults, we recommend every 90 days (plus or minus a week)—and sooner if you’ve been sick.

Why timing matters:
✔️ Bristles wear down and lose cleaning effectiveness
✔️ Worn brushes don’t remove plaque as efficiently
✔️ Bacteria can build up over time
✔️ A fresh brush helps protect gums and enamel

Not all toothbrushes are the same. During your dental hygiene visit, our hygienist can help you choose the toothbrush that’s right for you, including:
✔️ Handle size and grip for comfort and control
✔️ Head size and shape to reach all areas of the mouth
✔️ Manual vs. powered brushes
✔️ Rotary vs. sonic technology, based on your brushing habits and needs

The right toothbrush—used correctly—can make a noticeable difference in your oral health.

🦷 **4 Habits That Can Lead to Cavities**

Cavities don’t usually happen overnight. They often develop from everyday habits like:

• Frequent snacking on sugary or sticky foods 🍬
• Skipping brushing and flossing 🪥
• Drinking sugary or acidic beverages 🥤
• Ignoring dry mouth

The good news? **Regular dental hygiene visits can help prevent cavities before they start.**

During your professional cleaning, our team removes plaque and tartar that brushing alone can’t reach. We may also recommend **fluoride treatments**, which help strengthen tooth enamel and make teeth more resistant to decay. ✨

🦷 **Protect your smile before small problems become big ones. Call our office to schedule your dental hygiene appointment today.**

🦷✨ Dental Tip Tuesday

Crowded or misaligned teeth aren’t just a cosmetic concern—they can impact your oral health in several important ways.

When teeth are crowded, it can be harder to keep them clean, which may lead to:
✔️ Increased risk of tooth decay
✔️ Gum inflammation and periodontal disease
✔️ Persistent bad breath
✔️ More staining in hard-to-reach areas
✔️ Uneven wear on teeth over time

Orthodontic options like braces or Invisalign® can help align teeth properly, making daily brushing and flossing more effective and supporting healthier gums and a cleaner smile.

Dr. Lane can help determine whether orthodontic treatment is right for you and discuss the best option for your needs.
