Tooth extractions are required when teeth are damaged beyond saving or erupted in an awkward position that may cause harm, such as impacted wisdom teeth.

Some of the complications of pain and infection may require dental intervention to remove the offending tooth or teeth. The dental extraction is usually done under local anesthetics or Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen (laughing gas).

This procedure varies from very simple to slightly complicated, depending on the tooth’s condition and infection. It is usually done safely, and the patient may return home or work when no physical activities are required in their daily chores.

Instructions such as taking a soft diet, resting, and using ice application on the facial side of extraction are given. Medications may be prescribed after tooth extraction.

If you think you have a tooth that needs to be extracted and would like to schedule an evaluation, please call the dentist near you Dental TMJ Sleep Apnea in Boca Raton, FL, at (561) 391-5331.

Dental Implants include an intricate procedure but are a long-term alternative to replacing missing teeth. They are a substitute for bridges. Bridges require reducing the adjacent teeth to support the replica tooth that replaces the missing one. Implants have three parts: (1) titanium metal root inserted into the jawbone, (2) an abutment, a metal body that fits over and into the titanium metal root (3) and a tooth-like crown made of porcelain fused to metal or all ceramic material for aesthetic appearance.

A dental implant may replace one or more teeth or be used as a support to a denture. If there is a loss of jaw bone due to periodontal disease, the surgeon most likely requires a bone graft to ensure the implant root’s successful stability. If you are interested in getting dental implants, please give our dentists near you a call at (561) 391-5331.

Therapeutic ultrasound is used to reduce chronic pain and promote tissue healing. It is often recommended as a part of the treatment for muscle spasms, inflammation, stiffness, and joint injuries or disease. Therapeutic ultrasound provides deep heating to soft tissue to increase blood circulation, promote healing, and decrease pain.

The tooth needs endodontic therapy when the pulp (soft tissue inside the tooth) is exposed, inflamed, or abscessed. Endodontic treatment is performed by removing the diseased pulp tissues, cleaning and sterilizing the root canal, and filling the canals with antibacterial material. A crown is then applied to the tooth a couple of weeks later to strengthen it and provide it with the support it needs to stay intact. Please call our dental office in Boca Raton at 561 391 6922 to schedule an evaluation visit.

TMJ disorders

TMJ is the most common type of orofacial discomfort that our dentists near you treat. You have two temporomandibular joints on each side of the head that attach the jawbones to your skull. These joints act like sliding hinges when you open and close your mouth.

When there is a pain in one or both joints, it can come from the joint or the muscles surrounding them. Some of the symptoms of TMJ include:

An ache in or around the ear(s)
Tenderness or discomfort of the jaw(s)
Discomfort in the joint(s)
Facial pain that aches
Difficulty opening or closing the mouth
Jaw(s) locks in place
Problems or pain while chewing.
