Ever wondered why sometimes you’re scheduled for a “regular cleaning” and other times you need something a little more involved? 👀

✨ PROPHY (Regular Cleaning)
A prophy is your routine cleaning for a healthy mouth! It removes plaque, tartar, and surface stains from above the gumline and is typically recommended every 6 months.

🦷 PERIODONTAL CLEANING
A periodontal cleaning is for patients who have signs of gum disease, such as deeper gum pockets, bleeding, inflammation, bone loss, or buildup below the gumline. This cleaning goes deeper to help control infection and protect the supporting structures around your teeth.

💡 The important part: A periodontal cleaning isn’t just a “deeper regular cleaning.” It’s specifically designed to treat and manage gum disease.
