Q: What are dental crowns and why do we use them? Are they permanent?

A: A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore any worn down, decayed, or broken down teeth. While fillings treat minor tooth decay or damages, dental crowns are used to treat more extensive damages. In order to restore the look and functionality of a tooth, dental crowns are also utilized for implants and root canal teeth. Although they are not everlasting, crowns are also far tougher than fillings and are highly unlikely to come loose.
