Did you know Dr. Kevin Allred’s path to Powell Valley Dental started all the way in Utah? 🦷

Before dentistry, Dr. Allred studied biomedical engineering at the University of Utah. After seeing his cousin and brother pursue dental school, he realized dentistry could give him the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s health.

He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012.

But here’s our favorite part. 💙

Before graduating, Dr. Allred and his wife, Samantha, fell in love with Southwest Virginia. They moved to Big Stone Gap immediately after graduation and have called this community home ever since.

Now, more than a decade later, Dr. Allred has built a life here with his wife and four children while working to make Powell Valley Dental a place where patients feel comfortable, known and genuinely cared for.

And if you’ve ever had an appointment with him, you already know there’s a pretty good chance the conversation will eventually turn to gardening, cars, sports or just about anything else. 😂
