Your shoes are the foundation your prosthesis was built on.
The prosthetic foot is aligned on the slope of the heel and toe heights.
Changing that slope with different shoes can profoundly affect how it walks and the pressures on your residual limb.
Some prosthetic feet are more forgiving such as passive hydraulic feet. High energy storing feet are much less forgiving.
A higher heel shoe will cause the knee to bend more while a lower heel shoe will feel like walking uphill.
Bottom line: Check with your prosthetist about changing shoes
