MEDICARE FOR ALL - ELIMINATES YOUR CHOICE/ PRIVATE INSURANCE
PART 1
1. Structural Incentives: If Socialists win the Whitehouse in midterm or win the Whitehouse in 2028 this would turn their Campaign promise to real life policies.
โข Medicare for ALL - Nationalize Health Care Proposal - Government would provide standardized coverage for everyone and eliminate private insurance by expanding public coverage nationwide.
โข Policy Reality: What would change? Private health insurance would be eliminated. That's 225 million Americans who would lose their current plans. That's 67% of you right now on private insurance. Most of the rest are already on public insurance programs, and about 8% are uninsured.
2. That brings us to this question. It's the big one.
โข The Tax Burden: Who pays for it? Some estimates project trillions of dollars in additional federal spending each year for Medicare for All. Spreading that out evenly to all the taxpayers, all tax returns. It works out to about 15,000 to 21,000 more per return annually compared to the average employee currently contributing to their government health program.
โข Right now a single employee averages about $1,500 in what they contribute for their coverage. The employer then gives about $8,000 on top of that. For families; You contribute about $7,000 for single coverage for the family and then the employer contributes $20,000 for family coverage. A lot less than what is being considered when you go to Medicare for All. There could be other challenges as well. A government plan reduces insurance choices, and less competition.
3. System Strains & Wait Times
โข International Comparisons: Coverage is subject to federal budget decisions like you see in the NHS over in the UK fighting about whether or not we're going to cover knee replacements or not. Then a higher demand would strain the current healthcare system. Take Canada as a real world example. They have universal healthcare. According to the Fraser Institute, the median wait time for a referral to a general practitioner is more than 28 weeks, so 6 plus months to get to see the doctor that you need.

PART 2
4. Oversight, Fraud, and Program Integrity - If the argument is for more government healthcare, we need to look at how our current system is working.
โข Recently, the DOJ announced charges against 19 people in Pennsylvania from a Medicaid home health scheme that allegedly stole more than $4 million. In one case, we charged two home health aides and two purported patients with causing over 400,000 in false claims to Medicaid. The allegations include a scheme that billed taxpayers for home care services- provider provided when the person supposedly doing that work was sitting behind bars. That of course is not healthcare. It's just pure theft. The Senate also held a hearing recently on the reality of Medicaid.
โข Medicaid Expansion Eligibility - After a new report by Paragon Health Institute found 9.2 million adults that enrolled in Obamacare's Medicaid expansion may not have met federal eligibility requirements in 2024. That's 46% of expansion enrollment that year and an estimated $33 billion in taxpayer costs. Paragon's founder testified on those findings. There's the federal eligibility rules that the federal government doesn't enforce all that well and yet many of them do.
โข Federal Health Institute President Ryan Blace testified before the hearing that 46% of enrollment expansion may have been fraudulent. Medicaid is a joint federal-state program, traditionally for the most vulnerable citizens: children, people with disabilities, senior citizens. Obamacare dramatically expanded Medicaid to able-bodied working-age adults and the way Medicaid works, the federal government reimburses state spending.
5. Fraud Schemes: The federal government pays states seven times more when they enroll an able-bodied working-age adult through the Obamacare expansion.
โข States are enrolling a lot more people in that expansion that aren't elderly. So states were incentivized because of federal reimbursements to put people on the rolls. And this ends up, in the socialist debate we're having in the country right now, everyone would like free, readily accessible, universal healthcare, but this does come back on somebody, the taxpayer.
โข The nation has a $40 trillion debt, and federal health programs are the number one driver of the unsustainable deficits and debt in the country. Unfortunately, ever since these programs, everybody is spending someone else's money. In the case of Medicaid, we've made states bad actors because they're able to increase spending, and they have all the lobbyists that come into the state capitals and say, "We want increased spending because it's the federal taxpayers that are paying the bill." Well, federal taxpayers are taxpayers, too, and they're left with a huge liability.
FINAL THOUGHTS: It's like at every step of the chain, from the doctor and the patient to the state and the federal government, everyone is incentivized not to give a darn about the price of healthcare and what do you get?
You get exactly this: fraud and inflation, passed on to the hardworking American people tax-payers paying more taxes while adding more debt for our grandchildren.
MEDICARE FOR ALL IS NOT THE ANSWER โ IT JUST TAKES YOU DOWN A SLIPPERY SLOPE OF HAVING THE GOVERNMENT IN MORE - NOT LESS! THATโS NEVER A GOOD THING - STRIPING OUR FREEDOM, MONEY AND CHOICE!
