This is bit difficult to see, but the patient was referred to me for evaluation for a gingival graft for the lower interior by her orthodontist but also to evaluate the red tissue that appears to be unilateral on the upper right and lower right only. We’ve had several specialties evaluate photos, including an infectious disease specialist, and we cannot come up with a definitive diagnosis as to what is going on. Patient is undergoing Invisalign and is currently wearing any elastic only on the right side. She has had both shingles vaccines recently. There is some mild discomfort, but not severe. The thinking is it’s possibly shingles anyhow, perhaps a latex allergy and plasma cell gingivitis has been mentioned. Any thoughts?
