Age 7!!
The American Association of Orthodontics recommends a first orthodontic visit at age 7.
This is to screen for a Phase I of orthodontics.
The purpose is to catch any issues that, if not corrected, could lead to bigger issues down the road.
Some of these are a crossbite in the front or the back,
an open bite like shown here, or the reverse, a really deep bite, and severe crowding.
Many times, a Phase I treatment may not be needed,
but it is important to have that first consult. That way we can help monitor tooth eruption and growth to catch these things early.
