Did you know that only one dentist in our state -- just ONE! -- has been accredited by the IAOMT | International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology ? That would be our own Dr. Castro, of course!

What makes this such a big deal is that IAOMT Accreditation tells you that a dentist has put in the extra time and study to develop a deeper understanding of biological dentistry -- including how the materials and treatments used in the mouth can affect health throughout the body. It’s a meaningful sign of advanced training and commitment to whole-person care.

"Dental amalgam exposure," the authors of a fascinating new study concluded, "may be associated with both increased risk of MS and faster disability progression. Findings support a potential synergistic effect with smoking and raise the hypothesis that mercury may contribute to MS-related neurodegeneration."

A traditional dental exam gives is a lot of information about your mouth's overall health. A real-time look at what's happening in your oral microbiome can tell us even more.
