💙 WEEK 1 SPOTLIGHT: MEET LEEANN, AKA “LA”! 💙

This month, we’re celebrating the amazing hygienists who keep our patients smiling, and we’re kicking things off with our very own LeeAnn, affectionately known as LA! 🌟

Originally from Massachusetts, LA has brought a little Northern charm and a whole lot of heart to the Lowcountry! 💙

When she’s not helping our Beaufort community maintain healthy, beautiful smiles, she’s a proud dog mom AND busy pursuing her education to become a Licensed Clinical Psychologist! 🐾📚🧠

Talk about a woman with a passion for caring for others! Whether it’s promoting oral health or working toward making a difference in mental health, LA’s dedication to helping people shines through.

🎀 Survivor Spotlight: Yolandra Shipp

Two-time breast cancer survivor. Advocate. Woman of strength.

Yolandra Shipp’s breast cancer journey began in 1997 when she was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. After treatment, she celebrated 22 years of survivorship before cancer unexpectedly returned.

During a season of tremendous grief after losing both of her parents just three months apart, Yolandra missed several mammograms. It was a reminder from her daughter, about practicing the same early detection and self-care she encouraged in other women that pushed her to reschedule. That decision mattered. Her cancer had returned, leading to surgery, recovery, and 22 rounds of radiation.

But cancer did not get the final word.

Her second battle revealed a strength she didn’t know she possessed and changed the way she viewed herself, her relationships, and her independence. Today, Yolandra is cancer-free, carrying not only the scars of what she survived but also the lessons and responsibility to encourage other women to prioritize themselves.

Her message this Breast Cancer Awareness Month is simple but powerful: Early detection saves lives. Take care of the whole woman mentally, physically, and emotionally; and never become so busy caring for everyone else that you neglect yourself. 🎀💕

She survived it twice. Cancer came after the wrong woman. 💪🏾🎀
