Heads up! The Independence Bridge will be closed Tuesday March 21st-Friday March 31st. If this affects your travel to our office, please seek an alternate route. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

We want to keep you informed about upcoming bridge closures. Liberty Bridge will be fully closed on March 16 beginning at 7pm through 5am on March 17, to make up for the closure we cancelled because of last week's snowstorm. Independence Bridge will be fully closed beginning at 7am on March 21 through 11pm on March 31 to commission bridge mechanicals for summer Coast Guard openings.

As always, we appreciate your understanding on these necessary closures that are required for the full-scale rehabilitation of both bridges.

Traffic Advisory – (Expected Traffic Delays)

Starting on Monday, July 25th and throughout the summer months (Monday through Friday) convoys of tractor trailers will be travelling from Bay Aggregate, located at 411 Tiernan Road to Tuscola Road (utilizing Independence Bridge). These vehicles will be over-sized loads and are required to have escorts.

Traffic will be stopped briefly at some locations to allow the convoy to pass. (Intersections include: Wilder Road at Patterson Road, Woodside Avenue at Trumbull Road, and Center Avenue at Trumbull Road.)

The temporarily closed intersections will occur between approximately 6:00 a.m. and no later than 10:00 a.m. The closure times will differ depending on the convoys start time and length but should last no longer than 15 to 20 minutes. Please plan accordingly for your commute.

Dear valued patients,
We hope you’ve been safe and well over the last few months. We are thrilled to announce that our office has reopened for your dental care needs! Our community has been through a lot, and while many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority at our office. With guidance from the the American Dental Association, Center for Disease Control, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration, we’ve reworked normal office logistics and protocols in a way that protects our patients and staff. Some of the changes you may notice are:

-Pre-appointment screening questionnaire when we call to confirm your appointment.

-When you arrive, please remain in your car, and call the office to inform us of your arrival. A team member will instruct you to enter when we are ready.

-Please wear a cloth face covering or surgical mask to your appointment.

-We will perform a temperature check with a touch-less forehead thermometer and ask that you wash your hands or use hand sanitizer upon your arrival.

-We are disinfecting and wiping down doors, door handles and commonly touched patient objects regularly.

-Our waiting room will have limited seating and no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

-We ask that you refrain from bringing anyone else to your appointment, except when necessary as a caregiver or parent of the patient.

-Air purifiers will continuously circulate and clean the air throughout the treatment areas.

-Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean you’re offered fewer options or times for scheduling your appointment.

-If you wish to post-pone or reschedule your routine/non-urgent dental treatment for any reason, we can help accommodate that as well.

Please contact our office at (989) 686-1133 to discuss any changes with your dental insurance, medical health, or dental health with a helpful team member. We ask for your patience and appreciate your flexibility as we work on accommodating all our patients in the most timely way feasible. We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you—and every patient—safe and healthy!
We look forward to seeing you soon!

-The team at Benjamin M. Straight, DDS

Dear valued patients,

Due to the elevated concern of the coronavirus, it’s transmission, and the continuing unknowns that surround this situation our office has decided to suspend normal operation and limit our care to emergent treatments only.

In accordance with recommendations from the American Dental Association and the CDC, our office will be closed to non-emergency treatment for a minimum of three weeks starting today March 17, 2020. We will be notifying our scheduled patients and will reschedule once we have a definitive return-to-work date. If you are a patient of record and have a dental emergency please call Dr. Straight at (734) 274-9093. This will allow you to get in touch directly with Dr. Straight and to arrange appropriate care.

Because we are unsure of the exact, time-specific details of how this will play out, we are constantly monitoring the most current guidelines and will resume normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so. This was an extremely difficult decision to come to, and we appreciate your understanding moving forward. It’s our hope that this action will protect our patients, employees, and community while still allowing us to serve patients in emergent need. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause. We wish the best to the healthcare providers fighting this pandemic and wish our patients safety, health, and well-being.

Sincerely,
The team at Benjamin M. Straight DDS

Dear valued patients,

Like so many of you, we have spent the last several days and weeks learning about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it is impacting our world. While there now are the first documented cases in Michigan, our office is dedicated to understanding how it affects our patients, employees, and doctors, and then making necessary adjustments to our office routine.

We have one simple objective that guides us: keeping you, our patients, as well as our employees safe. This has been at the center of our conversations every step of the way. With that in mind, we wanted to keep you abreast of our response to the threat of the coronavirus.

We take pride in our infection control, and the sterilization and disinfection processes we have always utilized are effective against COVID-19. Aside from our standard infection control protocols, we have ramped up cleaning and disinfection in the common areas of our office and are continuing to offer hand sanitizer at the front entrance.

We are closely following the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) guidelines and recommendations on the steps we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus. We have shared specific instructions with our employees on the importance of washing their hands and staying home if they feel sick. We also ask our patients to help us in containing any potential spread by rescheduling your appointments without penalty if you feel unwell or feverish.

Even if you do not feel unwell but wish to reschedule your appointment due to any concerns about the spread of the virus, please feel free to contact our front desk to do so (again, without penalty). We are completely willing to work with patients and understand your need to make decisions based on your own personal health and level of risk tolerance.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and do all we can to protect our patient family. Please call our office at (989)686-1133 if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

The team at Benjamin M. Straight DDS
