Michigan remains under a State of Emergency which prohibits dental offices from performing any “non-essential” treatment. This office will remain closed until these restrictions are lifted. The current State of Emergency is scheduled to expire May 28th. We plan to reopen Monday June 1st.

We are currently seeing our patients with dental emergencies Wednesday mornings by appointment only. If you are a current patient of this office and have a dental emergency you may call the office at (989)894-0061 and leave a message. We return phone calls Monday-Thursday. If you have an urgent issue that cannot wait for a return phone call the office answering service will provide instructions on how to contact Dr. Rathke.

We will return to our normal services as soon as we are permitted and attend to your dental needs as quickly and efficiently as we are able.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Office is temporarily closed.
March 23rd Governor Whitmer issued a stay at home order which prohibits nonessential dental treatment until April 13th. This office will be available for essential treatment only during this time by appointment only. You may leave a message on our phone system and someone will return your call. We will be returning calls in the mornings Monday through Thursday. Please do not leave messages on this page as it is not regularly monitored.
Thank you for your patience.

Things to remember when preparing your child for their first dental visit:
~Parents should always talk about dental visits in a positive way.
~Avoid discussing shots, pain or drills!
~Help children understand the point of visiting a dentist is to keep our mouth healthy and happy.
~Visits go much better with children when they are not afraid because of things others have told them.
~Dr Rathke typically begins seeing children by age three, please call if there is anything of concern before then.

Do you have children under the age of five? Here are some great reminders to keep their teeth healthy!

"Tips to Prevent NBS

Wean children from the bottle as early as 12-14 months.
Never let your child walk around with a bottle filled with milk for more than 20 minutes.
Begin brushing your child’s teeth as soon as teeth appear, or clean them using a wet cloth.
Juices and sodas cause erosion of teeth and should be avoided. 4oz is the maximum amount of juice a child should consume in a day.
Children should be fed every 2-3 hours. A typical schedule could be breakfast at 8:00 am, snack at 10:00 am, lunch at 12:00 pm and so forth.

Water is the only thing they should be consuming between the meals.

Healthy teeth start young and a few simple steps can avert very painful consequences. In life, it is never too early to start a healthy habit."
