🦷🍬DID YOU KNOW? “Sugar-Free” Doesn’t Always Mean Tooth-Friendly!

Think sugar-free automatically means better for your teeth? Not always! 👀

Some sugar-free candies, sodas, and other drinks can still be high in acids, which may wear away your tooth enamel over time.

✨ The takeaway: It’s not just about watching sugar—pay attention to acidity, too!

Your enamel protects your smile, so give it the care it deserves. 💙🦷

🤱 Breastfeeding & Your Baby’s Dental Health 🦷

Breastfeeding has many benefits for both mom and baby—but did you know it can also play a role in oral health?

Here are a few things new moms should know:

🦷 It may support healthy tooth alignment. Some studies have found that babies exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months may have a lower risk of certain alignment issues.

🍼 Breastfeeding may reduce the risk of baby bottle tooth decay, but breastfed babies can still develop cavities. Breast milk contains natural sugars, so oral care is important from the very beginning.

✨ Start early! Wipe your baby’s gums with a clean, damp washcloth or gauze. Once that first tooth appears, begin brushing twice a day with a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste.

👩‍🍼 Don’t forget Mom! New motherhood can make it easy to put your own dental care on the back burner. Brushing twice a day, flossing daily, staying hydrated, and keeping up with regular dental visits are important for your health, too.

And remember: Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your baby. 💙

📅 Have questions about your baby’s oral health? Lakeview Dental Care is here to help!

🚨 Dental Emergency? Here’s What to Do 👇

When a dental emergency happens, quick action can help protect your smile!

🦷 Toothache: Gently rinse your mouth with warm water and floss to remove any trapped food. Avoid placing aspirin directly on your gums.
🦷 Knocked-Out or Injured Tooth: Handle the tooth carefully and keep it moist (in milk or saliva) until you can get to a dentist right away.
🦷 Chipped or Broken Tooth: Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater to help clean the area. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your mouth to reduce swelling and use a clean cloth to control any bleeding.
🦷 Lost Filling or Crown: Keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side until you can be seen.

⏱️ Acting quickly can make a big difference in saving your tooth and easing discomfort.

📞 Contact Lakeview Dental Care right away at (269) 964-7660 if you’re experiencing a dental emergency—we’re here to help!
