When $2 Stands Between a Child and a Dentist

A seven-year-old girl came to our Rwanda outreach with untreated cavities so painful she couldn't sleep and was missing school. The nearest hospital was only a few miles away—but her family couldn't afford the equivalent of a $2 ride to get there.

Thanks to our outreach, she received treatment that stopped the progression of her tooth decay and relieved the source of her pain before it became a more serious infection.

This quarter also marked an exciting milestone as four new dental students from the University of Rwanda joined the Smiles for Everyone volunteer team. With more students volunteering than available positions, we're growing local capacity to reach even more families who face barriers to dental care.

Sometimes the biggest obstacle isn't the distance—it's the cost of getting there. ❤️🦷

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been just over two years since our old office suffered severe weather damage, forcing us to find a temporary home while working on a permanent solution. Our colleagues at Jacobson and Tsou Orthodontics were kind enough to open their doors to us for the past two years, which is something we will always be thankful for. After extensively reviewing all of our options, we are excited to share that we have finally found a permanent home for both our patients and entire dental team!

Beginning August 31, we will be joining forces with an incredible, well established dental practice nearby - Cary Grove Dental!

Located less than 4 miles away at 2615 W. Three Oaks Road 2D in Cary, we are excited to welcome you to our new home. While our name and address will be new, you’ll still be receiving the same great personalized care from Dr. Mannelly, Michelle, Rachel, and team.

Every outreach is a reminder of what’s possible when compassionate partners come together. 💙🦷

In the first quarter of 2026, Smiles for Everyone Philippines provided 2,682 dental treatments to 2,333 patients across underserved communities nationwide. Through 14 outreach clinic days in 10 locations across Luzon and Mindanao, our teams reached local and tribal communities with essential dental care, helping restore oral health and improve quality of life.

This impact was made possible through the dedication of 53 volunteer dentists and 153 volunteers, along with the support of partners who share our mission.
