Severe pain a few days after a tooth extraction may be a sign of Dry socket — a condition that occurs when the protective blood clot at the extraction site is lost too soon during healing.
To help reduce your risk:
• Avoid smoking or va**ng
• Don’t use straws
• Avoid forceful rinsing or spitting for the first few days
• Follow post-op instructions carefully
Symptoms can include throbbing pain, bad taste or odor, and pain radiating to the ear or jaw.
If you think you may have dry socket, contact our office for evaluation and care.
