Wednesday Dental Tip #2: Your Tooth Can Be in Trouble Without Pain
Many patients believe that if a tooth does not hurt, everything is fine.
But tooth pain can be tricky. Pain is felt differently by every person, and sometimes a dental problem can develop without strong symptoms at first.
A small cavity may not hurt. Discomfort may come and go. In some cases, a tooth may hurt badly, then suddenly stop hurting — but that does not always mean the problem went away. It may mean the nerve inside the tooth is no longer responding.
That is why regular dental checkups are so important. With exams and X-rays, dentists can often detect cavities and other issues early, before they become painful, expensive, or turn into emergencies.
In this week’s dental tip, Dr. Zoe from Dental Group of Baltimore City explains why “no pain” does not always mean “no problem.”
