Braces don’t have to sideline sports, band, or the rest of your child’s schedule.

With the right orthodontic mouthguard, kids can still safely play contact sports. Musicians may need a short adjustment period, especially with brass instruments, but most adapt quickly.

When possible, we also like to start treatment before a busy season so the initial soreness is out of the way before practices and rehearsals ramp up.

Invisalign or braces? For kids, the answer depends on more than which one looks cooler.

Invisalign can be a great option for milder crowding or spacing, but only if your child is responsible enough to actually wear the aligners consistently.

For more complex bites, jaw concerns, or severely rotated teeth, traditional braces may give us better control. And unlike aligners, they can’t accidentally spend the afternoon in a backpack. 😅

The best choice comes down to your child’s smile, their treatment needs, and what they’ll realistically keep up with.

The best time for a first orthodontic visit might be sooner than you think.

Around age 7, enough adult teeth have come in for us to spot early signs of bite, jaw, and airway concerns while your child’s smile is still developing.
