Thinking of pulling a tooth? Here’s why you might want to save it instead.
When a tooth is causing pain or has an infection, it’s tempting to just have it pulled and be done with it. But in most cases, saving the tooth — whether with a root canal or another treatment — is actually the better move. Here’s why:
1. Your natural tooth is best. Nothing feels or functions quite like your own tooth. Keeping it helps you chew, smile, and speak more naturally.
2. It keeps your bite in line. When a tooth is pulled, the surrounding teeth can shift and throw off your bite, leading to more problems (and costs) later on.
3. It can save money long-term. Sure, pulling a tooth might be cheaper upfront but replacing it with an implant, bridge, or denture adds up fast.
4. Modern dentistry makes it easier than you think. Root canals have come a long way. Today, they’re usually quick, comfortable, and super effective at relieving pain. Before you decide to pull, let’s talk to Dr.LaBombard and go from there.
