Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Joe K.
Smith, who passed away at the age of 88.

Dr. Smith founded About Smiles in South Austin in 1968, dedicating decades of his life to caring for his patients with skill, compassion, and integrity. His commitment to excellence and genuine connection with those he served left a lasting impression that continues to be felt today. Even now, many patients still ask about him—a true testament to the relationships he built and the trust he earned.

In 2011, I had the privilege of purchasing his practice, and for the past 15 years, I have been proud to continue what he started. We have honored the foundation he built while carrying his vision forward. Today, About Smiles Family & Cosmetic Dentistry remains strong, rooted in the same values Dr. Smith established so many years ago.

We are grateful for the path he paved and the example he set. His legacy lives on not only in this practice, but in every smile we care for.

Rest in peace, Dr. Smith you will always be remembered. Sending love and peace to your family.
