Rebuilding a smile after a lifetime of complex dental history ✨
This patient came to us with a challenging history — double jaw surgery to correct her bite and TMJ, early orthodontics with teeth removed to create space, and years of changes that left one of her upper front teeth failing and several others with significant gum recession.
The failing tooth had internal root resorption and could not be saved. On top of that, the gumline across her upper front teeth was uneven, with the roots exposed and the tissue sitting at different heights from tooth to tooth. When the gumline isn't level, no restoration on top of it will ever look right — the foundation has to come first.
Here's what we did:
🦷 Removed the failing tooth and rebuilt the site with a bone graft and a dental implant, replacing what could not be saved with a natural-looking, permanent tooth.
🌿 Performed connective tissue grafting to cover the exposed roots and rebuild the gum tissue on the neighboring teeth — using her own tissue as the donor source for the most natural, durable result.
📏 Carefully leveled the gum margins so the tissue sits at an even, harmonious height across the smile — the detail that makes the final result look effortless.
