Dear Friends & Families of Sommers Family Dental,

Our office has always prided ourselves in providing the safest dental care for your family. We will be limiting the treatment we provide to our patients to EMERGENCY visits only until April 7th.

If you are having a dental emergency, do not go to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care. Please call our office to make an appointment (630) 892-7041. We will be here for you.

Non-emergency dental care will be postponed. If you have a hygiene appointment scheduled during this time, our office will be in touch to help reschedule your appointment in the future.

We will have all the precautions in place to ensure a safe environment. It is our privilege to care for you and your families oral health and we look forward to continuing to do so. We are monitoring the situation closely as it changes and will post updates accordingly.

Established Safety Protocols
We always take care to fully protect the safety of our patients when visiting the office. This includes disinfecting treatment rooms, changing out all protective equipment (such as masks and gloves) between each patient, and sterilizing all equipment using best-in-class sterilization machines. We routinely sterilize patient waiting rooms and frequently touched surfaces like door handles. We publish and enforce standards for hand washing, maintenance of patient safety measures, and conduct routine training on best practices for all office staff on to ensure compliance. These actions have always been taken, regardless of current events.

Additional Measures for COVID-19
We are monitoring developments daily in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), government agencies, and internal teams to stay ahead of new information and safety measures that can be taken. We are following recommendations from these leading teams and implementing any process changes as required.

Clearly, patient safety is our top priority. We are confident we can and will be able to care for you (and your family’s) dental needs in a safe and effective manner, and rest assured we will make adjustments as the situation dictates and as directed by authorities. Health Advisory: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Please be assured that our office is following the developing situation regarding the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, and taking the precautions and preventative practices being recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) & American Dental Association (ADA).

In an attempt to put your mind at ease regarding the current crisis, we wanted to reiterate to you how our office has always adhered to the highest standards of cleanliness and sterility in our normal practice. Every instrument we use is sterilized before each use, if an item cannot be sterilized it is disposed of after its use, every surface (i.e. dental chair, etc.) is wiped down with a disinfectant in between each patient and the water given in the dental chairs is specially filtered.

Going forward, we will be increasing the cleaning of high-traffic surfaces and areas such as the waiting room and restroom. We are committed to your health and safety along with your comfort. When visiting the office, please feel free to ask any questions and we will be more than happy to explain to you or demonstrate procedures. Please remember, having a healthy mouth and healthy dental hygiene is essential to maintaining a healthy body.

In addition, our staff is committed to your health and will not be coming to work if they are feeling sick. If you are not feeling well, please call to reschedule and during this time we will waive any last-minute broken appointment fee.

As recommended by the CDC, there are simple everyday preventative actions to help prevent the spread including:
•Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
•Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
•Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
