Today, our Chapa-De team wore orange for Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Orange Shirt Day honors Native children who were taken from their families and sent to boarding schools. Many were separated from their culture, language, traditions, and families. Many of these children are now Elders in our communities.

We wear orange to remember the children, honor survivors and their families, and show our support for Native communities.

Thank you to our team members who wore orange today and helped us recognize this important day.

Dear Chapa-De Community,

Due to a water leak, our Auburn medical building (Building B) experienced major water damage. The affected areas include Medical Pods A & B, Behavioral Health and the Substance Use Disorder Department (SUD). We are working quickly to repair the damage and provide a safe, healing environment for our patients. Repairs are expected to take at least 3 to 4 weeks.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲: The water damage affected 17 exam rooms and 10 offices. As a result, we are temporarily reducing the number of in-person appointments while we move and combine care teams into Pods C & D. Some groups and classes may also be relocated to help accommodate these changes. We encourage patients to use virtual appointments whenever possible during this time.

We anticipate a high call volume as we support patients during this temporary disruption. We encourage patients to use the Healow™ app whenever possible. With it, you can:

This week, Dr. Nkadi spent time with elders at the UAIC Elders Center discussing eye health and reading glasses, helping answer questions and provide information about maintaining healthy vision.

We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Elders Center and the opportunity to visit regularly to share health resources and support with elders in our community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and joined the conversation! We're looking forward to being back in September, when Dr. Oldach will be sharing information and resources on Chronic Pain Management.
