We are so very proud to have Dr. Phillips at Village Dental!

With February being National Children’s Dental Health Month, LSA Grandparent Dr. Jim Phillips from Village Dental visited Lee-Scott to teach about the importance of good dental hygiene. He shared helpful tips on keeping our teeth healthy and strong, and our students loved learning from a real dentist right here in Auburn!

We are grateful for community members who invest in our students and make learning come alive!

Everything is connected.

Take care of your teeth and your teeth will take care of you. Oral health shares a direct connection with general health.

Here's How Age Impacts the Health of Your Teeth:

1. Increased Risk of Decay
Although we typically think of high-sugar diets and poor oral health as being the primary causes of tooth decay, the increased risk associated with age is tied indirectly to dry mouth.

2. Changing Facial Anatomy
Daily hygiene practices like brushing and flossing can be more difficult, increasing the risk of bacteria and tartar buildup.

Here are several vitamins that play a part in keeping up with your oral health:

Calcium: Calcium is found in many foods and liquids, such as milk and dairy products, beans, broccoli, nuts and oysters.

Iron: Iron is found in foods such as red meat, bran cereals and some nuts and spices.

Vitamin C: Sweet potatoes, raw red peppers and oranges are great sources of vitamin C.

Vitamin D: To increase your vitamin D intake, drink milk, and eat egg yolks and fish.
