Beware of “Free Dental Implant Trial” Scams

If an ad promises “FREE dental implants,” “clinical trial implants,” or “no-cost full-mouth treatment,” look carefully before providing personal information or committing to an appointment.

Legitimate clinical research has clear eligibility requirements, informed consent, oversight, and transparency about what is—and is not—covered.

Some misleading promotions use the word “free” simply to get you through the door, only to reveal later that you may still be responsible for imaging, extractions, sedation, bone grafting, restorations, or other significant fees.

Before moving forward, ask:

• Who is actually conducting the clinical trial?
• Is the study registered and independently reviewed?
• Exactly which procedures are covered?
• Who will perform the surgery and restoration?
• What are the dentist’s training and experience?
• What happens if complications occur?
• What will my total out-of-pocket cost be—in writing?

Some injuries go far beyond what you can see.

After waking up from a traumatic assault, one of the first things my patient saw was a damaged smile—a daily reminder of one of the hardest moments of their life.

The journey back wasn’t just about repairing teeth. It was about restoring confidence, dignity, and the freedom to smile without fear or hesitation.

Step by step, we worked together to create a smile that reflected who they truly are—not what happened to them. Tyler Rathburn was very helpful at creating better tooth positions to negate the effects of the trauma and less than ideal crown that was the fix the broken tooth. With better function, our ceramist worked with our patient and I to create the smile that reversed the nightmare for good with symmetry that fit his goals.

Today, that smile represents resilience. Healing. Hope. And the courage to move forward.
