We’re proud to introduce the heart behind our practice, Dr. Nelms! 🦷✨

Dr. Nelms is a natural-born perfectionist with an exceptional eye for detail and a true passion for patient care. She loves the human connection in dentistry and is dedicated to helping every patient achieve optimal oral health and a beautiful, confident smile.

She graduated at the top of her class from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry, earning awards in prosthodontics and induction into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. Before dentistry, she earned her undergraduate degree in studio art from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was recognized for her sculpting abilities—skills that now enhance her precise, artistic approach to dentistry.

Dr. Nelms is also board-certified in anaplastology (CCA), a specialized field focused on prosthetic rehabilitation of facial structures. She completed advanced training at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and the Bronx VA Hospital, and further refined her expertise while working in the Department of Prosthodontics at UCSF.

Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Nelms regularly attends advanced workshops and conferences to stay at the forefront of modern dental techniques and technology. She is passionate about thoughtfully modernizing the dental experience while maintaining the highest level of precision and personalized care.

Originally from New York, Dr. Nelms now calls Athens home with her husband, a professor at the University of Georgia, and their two young children. As a family, they enjoy exploring the local food, art, and music scene, as well as spending time outdoors and traveling.

Dr. Nelms is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Georgia Dental Association, American Dental Association, Athens Dentofacial Interdisciplinary Study Club, and the International Anaplastology Association. She also serves as a board member for the Board for Certification in Clinical Anaplastology.

We’re excited to introduce one of our wonderful hygienists, Alyson! 🦷✨

Alyson is a licensed and registered dental hygienist through the Georgia State Board, with over eight years of experience in the field. She became part of our team in June 2021 after earning her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Central Georgia Technical College in 2018.

She loves connecting with her patients and is passionate about helping them understand and improve their oral health. With experience in both pediatric dentistry and periodontics, Alyson is dedicated to making every patient—no matter their age—feel at ease and well cared for.

Originally from Madison, GA, Alyson still lives there with her husband, Connor, and their two daughters, Lilly and Lucy. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys camping at the lake and spending time with loved ones.

Macy is a Georgia State Board licensed and registered dental hygienist and a 2022 graduate of Lanier Technical College. During her time in school, she served as Class President and was honored with the Beacon Award for her leadership, professionalism, and dedication to excellence.

She is passionate about patient education and periodontal therapy, and loves helping patients understand the connection between oral health and overall wellness. Macy is committed to creating a comfortable, welcoming environment where patients of all ages feel at ease and genuinely cared for.

Outside of the office, Macy enjoys spending time with her husband, Austin, and their two sons, Jeremiah and James. In her free time, she loves crocheting, baking, gardening, traveling, and making meaningful memories with her family.

We’re so excited to welcome back a familiar face—Paige! 🎉

Paige is a Registered Dental Assistant with over a decade of experience in the dental field. She brings a steady, patient-centered approach to every visit, helping create a comfortable and efficient experience while supporting both our clinical team and the patients she cares for.

Originally from Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Paige moved to Georgia in a military family and has called Athens home since middle school. She completed her dental assisting training at Athens Technical College and the Dental Careers Institute in Marietta, and has spent much of her career caring for patients in the Five Points community. After a brief time on the North Carolina coast, we’re so happy she’s back in the Classic City!

Outside of the office, Paige enjoys music, the arts, and cheering on UGA football. She stays busy with her two kids—one a trumpet-playing high schooler and the other a ballet-loving fourth grader. In her downtime, she’s always on the hunt for great tacos or the perfect cup of coffee.

Brandi is our Lead Dental Assistant & Clinical Coordinator, bringing over 24 years of experience in the dental field. She graduated from Lanier Technical College in 2000 with an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant diploma and has been dedicated to providing exceptional patient care ever since.
Throughout her career, Brandi has worked alongside a variety of doctors in multiple practice settings, giving her a well-rounded perspective and a wealth of knowledge. Her commitment to continuing education keeps her up to date with the latest technologies, systems, and patient care approaches, helping ensure a seamless, high-quality experience for every patient.

Originally from the charming town of Gillsville, Georgia, Brandi enjoys ATV riding, camping, and cooking in her free time. She loves spending time with her husband Dustin, her two grown children, and her grandchildren. At home, she’s also kept company by her two dogs, Winston and Zara, who bring her lots of joy.
