Our entire community is saddened by this loss. We pray that your children find peace knowing how great of a provider and colleague their mom was.

RIP Cerina Fairfax, DDS. A respected Virginia dentist, practice owner, and devoted mother whose life of service ended in tragedy in April 2026. Authorities say she was killed in her home by her estranged husband, Justin Fairfax, in a murder su***de while their two teenage children were present.

Cerina built a successful family practice after graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, earning a reputation for compassionate, patient centered care. Colleagues and patients remember her as steady, kind, and deeply committed to others.

She leaves behind two children, a grieving community, and a profession shaken by the loss of one of its own. A life defined by care ended in a moment of chaos.

OrthoVirginia orthopedic surgeon Elshaday S. Belay, MD, successfully performed the first Stryker Triathlon® Gold total knee replacement in Virginia using Mako SmartRobotics™. The Triathlon® Gold implant provides a new option for patients who may have metal sensitivities and are seeking robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery.

The Mako robotic platform uses CT-based 3D planning software to help surgeons develop a personalized surgical plan prior to entering the operating room. During surgery, the robotic-arm system assists the surgeon with planning a high degree of accuracy, helping optimize implant placement and limit additional bone and soft tissue work.

The Triathlon® Gold implant is designed without the deliberate addition of nickel, cobalt, or chromium, making it a potential option for patients with metal allergies or sensitivities.
